So this week we got to go do service!!
Which also means I got to wear pants! It was great! Haha we had our recent converts there and a couple less active members and our investigator Jamar! And they all loved it! We had a lot of fun with the ward bagging fruit for families in need. And then we were about to go outside and I could hear something on the roof.... IT WAS RAINING. And not just raining but POURING. And of course like usual, it started to flood. And we had to somehow make it back home.. So we ran through the puddles to the cars and followed our member Weston back to our area and to safety.. We thought we were going to die haha!  No one in Vegas knows how to drive in the rain... And the roads are horrible so hydroplaning is a problem here.
But we made it to safety! We were freezing but it was a fun night and we were able to do some good service and our investigator really loved it! He also told us that night that he had gotten an answer to his prayer and he wants to be baptized! His only obstacle is that he needs to get Sunday's off of work so we are saying lots of prayers for him! He's already being an example to his family and wanting to share the gospel with his friends and little brother! He's awesome!

We took a picture in the car with all of us soaked and trying to drive through the rain. We had two members in the car with us that we're laughing at me because I had to stand out in the rain to back Sister Bradley out of the parking spot... So I got the worst of it and was completely wet the rest of the night....
Well the rest of this week was a lot of running around and lots of lessons. We had a member with us for every single lesson and I'm realizing how important that is! Especially when we can find a member that clicks we'll win our investigator. It's awesome to see how the spirit works when we seek revelation for our investigators. I think I've talked about it before but member missionary work is SO IMPORTANT. So do it :) and you will be blessed!
Most of our members are starting school this week at UNLV so they are all freaking out and stressed out of their minds. I sometimes feel bad that we ask them for help so much especially because there are so few of them but I remember that this is the time that they need this the most. And they understand that too. They know that when they are doing missionary work and help us out with lessons or rides for our investigators that they are going to be blessed! Sometimes our members tell us about how stressful their week was and we apologize for asking them to come out with us but they turn around and tell us that they wouldn't be able to get through their week with all the craziness going on without doing this service. Our members are awesome! They do so much even though they don't need to!
This next week is transfers and I've been here for 3 transfers so it's likely that I'll be leaving.. So I will let ya'll know what's happening with that next week! Also we have a baptism on Saturday for our investigator Peterson so expect some pictures from that!

Damoreyah left this week to go visit his mom in Texas :( but he will be back right before transfers! So if I leave I'll get to say goodbye! We took a picture of us sitting outside his brothers apartment because that's where we have been having our new member lessons with him! We have been roll playing with him so he is the missionary and we are the investigators! Just doing a little mission prep for our future missionary! :)

We had to go get our car serviced so we had like an hour and a half and there just happened to be some Lamborghinis sitting around! Sorry I look really sad in the picture.. But it's the best I got and I didn't know she was taking a picture.. Haha

Today is the first day of school so the institute building is crazy! We stopped by and the parking lot was completely full! Which is not normal at all.. Campus is covered with students and it was a little weird.. Haha but for those of you who are back in school this week, welcome back!!

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!!

This week was a little slow.. Until Sunday! We had 4 people show up to church! And I was asked to give a talk the night before! Lots of fun!

Haha and then last night we found another scorpion.. So it was an adventurous Sunday.. Haha

Last night we were sitting on the couch planning and I looked across the room and saw this.... I'm always the one that finds them! And then I caught it and killed it!

There's also these nasty little things all over the place! Hey crawl up the trees and shed their skin... Gross.. And then they make the most annoying noise ever! And it never stops!

Sorry for the gross bug pictures but that was really the most exciting thing that happened this week.. Haha

We did a lot of dropping and got dropped a lot but that's okay because that means we have more time to teach the people who are really ready! Two of our investigators who came to church are excited to start preparing for baptism and that's a huge step! They are Catholic and every time we talk about baptism they nod their heads yes but then heir mom comes in and says "we're Catholic" then they say "oh yeah... We're Catholic..." But they are getting closer and actually expressed a desire to be baptized!!

Sorry this one is short but I hope everyone is doing well! Love you all!! Have a great week!

This week was all about the temple! We had stake conference and they talked about temples and families the whole time. It was awesome!
We were visited by Elder Nielson of the Seventy and the temple president and his wife and also President and Sister Snow! It was a powerful conference and it reminded me of how much I love the temple! I'm excited to be able to go next transfer! Our Stake President, President Warren, had given a talk at the last conference about a new meaning for CTR and it was brought up again this weekend. Current Temple Recommend. I love it! Always make sure you have a current temple recommend! The temple is the most important thing and it's why I'm here!

This weekend a few people who are close to me made visits to the
temple.

First of all my family was at the temple this weekend because my brother got married! Adam and Cass were married and I wasn't able to be there because I'm here helping others to make it to the temple someday! I'm so happy for my brother and my new sister-in-law! I love you both! I know that because of the amazing blessing on the temple I am sealed to them for eternity! And this small time away from them is nothing compared to eternity!

Also two of my recent converts went to the temple! Our ward mission leader Caleb took Damoreyah to the temple to do baptisms! He's been wanting to go for so long! He is working on going on a mini mission in the next couple weeks and then in a years he will go through the temple so that he can serve a full time mission! Words can't express how proud I am of this kid!

I also got a picture from Rachel! She got to go do baptisms as well and she loved it! I'm so excited for when she gets married and sealed in the temple to the man of her dreams! That something that I know is really important to her.

We also went on exchanges this week which meant I got to do language study with Sister Gonzalez! I'm still working on my Spanish skills and slowly getting better. But I'm starting to kind of understand people! It's awesome! The last couple weeks we haven't been able to really talk with people much because EVERYONE speaks only Spanish.. But I'm okay with that! Just gives me more motivation!

I also got to hold Ingrid's bunny and I found another scorpion and killed it...

Hope everyone is doing well!! Love you all!

So I have a little poem I want to share with everyone this week!
Anyone that has served a mission I'm sure to an extent will understand this pretty well.

The Highs and Lows of  a Mission

A mission is a strange experience
It is a trial and a test.
A mission throws at you the worst
Yet, teaches you the best.
I've never been so happy,
I've never been so depressed.
I've never felt so forsaken,
I've never felt so blessed.
I've never been so confused,
Things have never been so clear.
I've never felt my Heavenly Father so distant, He's never been so near.
I've never been so discouraged,
I've never been so full of hope.
I feel I could go on for forever,
I think I've come to the end of my rope.
I've never had it quite so easy,
I've never had it quite so tough.
Things have never been so smooth,
Things have never been so rough.
I've never traveled through more valleys, I've never ascended more peaks.
I've never met so many nice people.
I've never met so many freaks!
I've never had so many ups,
I've never had so many downs.
I've never worn so many smiles,
I've never had so many frowns.
I've never been so lonely,
I've never had so many friends.
BOY, I hope this is over soon,
GOSH, I hope this never ends.

-Unknown

This poem pretty much describes my mission. This is the best experience I have ever had. It's also the hardest. I've never been more confused or discouraged in my life but every day I find something that makes it worth it. I love this place so much and the people are amazing. I have met people from Africa, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Samoa, and of course Tahiti :) I love all of these people so much! It's overwhelming at times but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I know that the message we are sharing is true. I have been able to learn so much from the people I am teaching. Sometimes I think they don't even need me that much! But I sure do need them. It's hard. But I want everyone to know that I love this place (even at 125 degrees) and all of the people here. Serving a mission is the best decision you could have made. I'm so happy that I have a couple of converts that are preparing to serve a mission! I'm excited to see all of the amazing people that will be affected by their spirits because I know they have changed me. Gosh I can't even express how much I love being here!

Okay now for some awesome news:
Ingrid got baptized!!!! Between Sister Bradley and I we have been able to have a baptism every week for a month! It's been such an amazing experience! I love seeing people get baptized because you can see the change in them as soon as they come out of the water. Sadly we won't have another baptism until September 3rd but we are so excited for it!

Ingrid's baptism was so amazing! Her mom and step dad where able to come and they were both crying! Her step day is a member of the Paraiso ward which is the Spanish ward in the Paradise stake. Her mom isn't a member but I don't think she is too far behind Ingrid. It's amazing to see families come together through this gospel!

The rest of this week was crazy and long.. We had to cancel a lesson because there was a member who lived above our investigators apartment who's husband had passed away not too long before we got there. We had our ward mission leader and Damoreyah with us and we were able to be there for that sister and also for our investigators who were pretty upset because of it. We said a prayer together and then went outside to help comfort the sister. Shortly after that members of her ward started showing up. Several priesthood holders where there ready to help in any way and to give her a blessing. One of the firemen looked around at us and said "wow. I've never seen this many people show up for someone before." It was an amazing teaching experience for the people around and for our investigators. I was able to testify to them of the power of the priesthood and also the family that we have as members of the church. It was also a perfect opportunity for Damoreyah to learn as well. As a new member of the church it was good for him to see how much the members love each other and how important it is to serve each other. He always says he loves to serve and I think that moment strengthened his testimony even more.

I love this gospel and I know without any doubt that it is true. I get to receive a confirmation of that every day and I'm so thankful for this time that I have to serve and to share it with others. I love you all so much! I hope you have an amazing week!

Love,

Sister Hopper

We had a great week with so many miracles!
I had to say goodbye to Sister Loveless this week... She went back home to Washington! This girl was my rock the first 3 months of my mission! She's awesome and I'm excited to see her again in a year!!

Our recent convert Damoreyah has come teaching with us almost every day this week! This kid is on fire! We are so excited for him! We will hopefully get to go to the temple with him next week to do baptisms before he leaves for Dixie State. We are going to miss him! But he is strong and is going to do so many amazing things!
Damoreyah looking like a missionary already!

This kid has such a strong testimony! He has been helping so much! He's going to be an amazing missionary!

We also have another baptism coming up on Saturday! Her name is Ingrid and she's so excited to be baptized! So there will be pictures of that next week!
I love you all so much! Have a great week!

We had Oreo pancakes and that's just the best thing ever.
